Hey everyone,

We hope your games have been epic lately! We've got some exciting progress to share as 80s Adventures moves into its next phase of development. From new spells to major revisions and more content on the horizon, we’ve been hard at work and we’re so glad to have you on this journey with us.

The Spells Section Is Ready for Playtesting

We’re excited to share that the Spells section of 80s Adventures is now live and ready for your feedback! You’ll be receiving a link from BackerKit shortly with the download. (If you don’t see the email, you can always log in to your BackerKit account and find it under your digital downloads.)

This section features our new spells inspired by 1980s music. We’d love to know what excites you, what feels strong, and what could use tuning. You can always join the feedback talk on our discord.

Subclass Feedback and Revisions

A huge thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the subclasses over the last few months. We've read every note, comment, and suggestion and we’re thrilled to share that we’ve completed revisions on nearly every subclass in the book.

We’ve made adjustments for clarity, balance, and fun, while staying true to each subclass’s unique flavor. If you haven’t chimed in yet, or have more thoughts to share, we’re always listening. Feel free to hop into the Discord and join the conversation.

Coming Soon: Monsters, Mechanics, and More

We’re getting close on several other major sections of the book. In the next wave of content, expect to see:

• Monsters: From mutated beasts to retro-infused villains, the bestiary is nearly ready for your review.
• Cinematic Inspiration Mechanics: Tools to help GMs bring that over-the-top, movie-magic vibe to every session.
• Additional Rules Content: Including items, effects, and tweaks to support the adventures and tone of the setting.

All of this is going through final formatting and balance review now. We can’t wait to get it into your hands soon.

A Challenging Year, But We're Moving Forward

2025 has thrown a lot at us. Tariff fluctuations, customs delays, and supply chain instability have made it a tough year for small creators across the board. But through all of that, we’ve stayed focused on the work.

We’re incredibly proud of what our small, scrappy team is achieving and it’s all thanks to your support. Every message, every piece of feedback, every word of encouragement keeps us going.

Modules Playtest Release: Camp Spellbrook & Rhythm of Rebellion

Hi Everyone! 

We're excited to announce the playtest versions of two modules Camp Spellbrook and Rhythm of Rebellion are now live!

Everyone should be receiving an email today from BackerKit with links to download your digital files. If you don’t see the email, you can also log into your BackerKit account directly and access the downloads from your survey page.

These are early versions - your feedback will be incredibly helpful as we continue polishing them up.

Book Update

We’re currently deep into the next phase: monster layout and internal playtesting!
We've also completed writing the additional stretch goal chapters including Gods of the 80s, which are now awaiting artwork and layout. Work is progressing steadily, and we hope to have something new to share with you soon. Stay tuned for future updates as we roll out previews.

Something New From Dice Dungeons: Dicetronauts

We’re excited to share that our next Kickstarter is launching soon:
Dicetronauts: Liquid Core Resin Dice for RPG Games.

We obtained permission from NASA to create these liquid core dice to celebrate the bold spirit of space exploration. At the heart of each die floats a mesmerizing globe featuring the iconic NASA insignia - designed and used in accordance with official branding guidelines.

We’ve already heard some excellent feedback from our Discord community, and now we’re excited to open the door to everyone! Below you'll find the link to our feedback form for the first pass of test materials dropped in the previous update. We'd love to hear what you think!

If you’ve downloaded the playtest materials from BackerKit but haven’t had the chance to dive in yet, now’s the time. Your insights on mechanics, layout, tone, or anything else are invaluable as we head into the next phase. 

Playtest Modules Releasing Soon

Next week, we’ll be releasing early access playtest versions of Rhythm of Rebellion and Wintertide Lockdown to all backers receiving the modules. These will be downloadable from your BackerKit account when they go live (you'll receive an email then).

We won’t be collecting feedback on these just yet - this is simply the first look at the adventures in action. Take your time, run them with your group, and have fun. We’ll follow up later with a dedicated form to gather your thoughts.

Layout and Design Updates

Our layout artist is deep in the pixel mines this month working on Camp Spellbrook and Curse of Garnet Lake. These spooky, summer-camp inspired adventures are shaping up beautifully and will follow the same high standard of visual polish you’ve seen in our previous work. We are also finalizing the layouts for all monsters - which is by far the most complex layout in the book. We hope to be getting that in all of your hands as soon as possible. (Here's a very early preview!)

Meanwhile, final art and text revisions are underway for Caretaker’s Descent, which will round out the adventure modules of 80s Adventures with a tense, atmospheric crawl into madness and memory. More previews coming soon!

A Note on Tariffs

We’ve had a few backers ask about how upcoming tariffs might affect this project. The short answer is: yes, they will affect us - but we’re absorbing the cost. Our goal is to keep our promises without charging more or compromising on quality.

That said, if you’d like to support us beyond this campaign, we’d love it if you visited our main site and picked up something cool.

Subclass and Magic Item Playtesting & Locking Orders

We are excited to be sending you the first round of Playtesting for Subclasses and Magic items. As well as two of the modules coming soon. Playtest materials are being sent to you through Backerkit. You should receive an email today, or you can log into your Backerkit account to find the digital downloads.

Locking Backerkit Pledges

We will be locking orders this week as well to begin production counts for all items. During this time we will charge your card on file with BackerKit for shipping and additional rewards. Should you need to update your card you will receive an email from Backerkit.
