Quick Update: 2 Weeks more needed for digital content to be released

Hi All, 

We're working extremely hard to finish the book, but long story short the monsters have required much more time than anticipated to layout and proofread. So we need about two more weeks to finish up all the digital content. 

In regards to physical rewards, they will be delayed until at least January 2026. While some rewards have been manufactured, we are experiencing physical production delays on multiple fronts. 

We will provide more detailed updates shortly, after we finish laying out the first digital draft of the complete book.

Monster Section Now Available for Feedback!

We're excited to release an early look at the Monsters section of ‘80s Adventures! This should be arriving to your inbox today, or you can find it in your Backerkit account. This preview includes a wide array of memorable foes designed for your retro-themed adventures. These creatures are still in development and you'll see a few without art and some open pages, however we’d love your input as we take one giant step toward finalizing the book.

How to Share Feedback: Join the chat on our Discord or email us directly at [email protected]. Let us know what stands out, what could use more punch, or what you’re excited to throw at your players. We’ll be sending out a formal survey next month, so keep an eye on your inbox for that.

If you're attending GenCon, swing by Booth 452 in the Vendor Hall. We’re showcasing our dice, GM tools, and previewing content from our upcoming adventures. Come say hi!

Early Preview of our Next Campaign!

We’ve also launched an early preview for our next Kickstarter; a new line of Glass Dice, inspired by Sea Glass that you would find on the beach. These two-tone glass dice sets are straight from the shore-line. We'd love it if you checked them out.

July Update: Physical Shipping Delay, Digital Delivery, Revised Subclasses & Next Steps

Hi everyone,

In our last update, we talked about how tough this year has been for small creators. Tariff fluctuations, customs delays, and supply chain instability have continued to hit us hard and unfortunately, those issues have grown to impact nearly every aspect of our business.

Because of that, we've made a hard decision to shift our timeline. While we had originally hoped to ship in August, the reality is that we’re going to need more time.

Here’s Where we are Now:

• We’re on track to deliver all PDF versions of the book by the end of August.
• Digital Adventure Modules will be delivered by the end of August.
• Printed books and manufactured items (dice, adventure module softcovers, screens, and physical rewards) have been significantly delayed due to import complications and tariff disruptions.
• We expect to need a few more months to fully complete production and shipping.

We will get 80s Adventures into your hands! Just not as soon as we hoped. You’ll have the digital version first, with the physical rewards to follow as quickly as we can manage. 

Revised Subclasses Available for Testing

As part of our ongoing design work, we’re sending out revised subclasses today for additional playtesting today. We’re incredibly happy with the feedback we’ve received so far. The subclasses are really coming together. This additional testing phase helps us make sure they’re balanced, exciting, and fun to play at the table.

You should have already received an email from BackerKit with the download link. If not, you can log into your BackerKit account now to access the updated subclass files.

We know delays are frustrating, and we’re truly sorry for the wait. But we’re committed to doing this right and not cutting corners. And we promise we will use this time to insure we are delivering something worthy of your support.

Spells Are Here! Subclass Revisions, Final Passes, and What’s Coming Next

Hey everyone,

We hope your games have been epic lately! We've got some exciting progress to share as 80s Adventures moves into its next phase of development. From new spells to major revisions and more content on the horizon, we’ve been hard at work and we’re so glad to have you on this journey with us.

The Spells Section Is Ready for Playtesting

We’re excited to share that the Spells section of 80s Adventures is now live and ready for your feedback! You’ll be receiving a link from BackerKit shortly with the download. (If you don’t see the email, you can always log in to your BackerKit account and find it under your digital downloads.)

This section features our new spells inspired by 1980s music. We’d love to know what excites you, what feels strong, and what could use tuning. You can always join the feedback talk on our discord.

Subclass Feedback and Revisions

A huge thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the subclasses over the last few months. We've read every note, comment, and suggestion and we’re thrilled to share that we’ve completed revisions on nearly every subclass in the book.

We’ve made adjustments for clarity, balance, and fun, while staying true to each subclass’s unique flavor. If you haven’t chimed in yet, or have more thoughts to share, we’re always listening. Feel free to hop into the Discord and join the conversation.

Coming Soon: Monsters, Mechanics, and More

We’re getting close on several other major sections of the book. In the next wave of content, expect to see:

• Monsters: From mutated beasts to retro-infused villains, the bestiary is nearly ready for your review.
• Cinematic Inspiration Mechanics: Tools to help GMs bring that over-the-top, movie-magic vibe to every session.
• Additional Rules Content: Including items, effects, and tweaks to support the adventures and tone of the setting.

All of this is going through final formatting and balance review now. We can’t wait to get it into your hands soon.

Modules Playtest Release: Camp Spellbrook & Rhythm of Rebellion

Hi Everyone! 

We're excited to announce the playtest versions of two modules Camp Spellbrook and Rhythm of Rebellion are now live!

Everyone should be receiving an email today from BackerKit with links to download your digital files. If you don’t see the email, you can also log into your BackerKit account directly and access the downloads from your survey page.

These are early versions - your feedback will be incredibly helpful as we continue polishing them up.

Book Update

We’re currently deep into the next phase: monster layout and internal playtesting!
We've also completed writing the additional stretch goal chapters including Gods of the 80s, which are now awaiting artwork and layout. Work is progressing steadily, and we hope to have something new to share with you soon. Stay tuned for future updates as we roll out previews.
